Welcome to the LAST week of home and away roster matches. I must say what a great effort by everyone involved in our footy club to help the players finish off with two wins last week. The Reserves are going to finish the season in third spot - well done to Daggy and the boys as they are a serious chance to make the last week of the finals series this year. Congratulations to Tommy, a bag of 10, Smithy chipped in with five and Ace snagged four, Thommo and Chris Hall kicked three each. Well done to the whole team -a great game by all. However there was some odd things that happened on Saturday that has left me to ask the question? Its obvious Todd Ashdown works off daylight saving hours, missing the first half of the game. And let’s not mention the umpires!!!!! Ooooh the umpires, where did we find them? (Life member’s board) How much beer had they had before the game. The 50m penalty decision from Umpire Horton in the last quarter brought the crowd to
its feet, but it just goes to show that even the best of the crowd umpires can get it wrong on the ground!! On a serious note though, I’d like to thank the two guys who have done it all for the club and a continue to do whatever it takes to get crowds through the gates - Toot and Jerka, you are legends and thank you.- GO PIES!!!
The Seniors had a good day coming away with a 38 point win against a determined Hawks, to cement their place in the final five. Flan had a fantastic game, along with Moyler, Squirrel and Ben Carter in the backline. Lips kicked nine. He will not only poll well in our best and fairest, but may also win leading goal kicker - what a find. Josh Kirkwood starred kicking five and his little brother Wade, or Pineapple as some people like to call him, took some great marks around the ground, Nick Porter continued his excellent season and again started the ball rolling in the middle to give us a good solid start and a great effort by all the boys, well done and let’s keep the momentum going today against the Crows. - GO PIES!!!
Today we take on the Crows at East Ulverstone, the Reserves should win comfortably to begin their finals campaign next week. The Seniors need a good solid hit out because it looks like we will be playing East in the first week of finals.A big win boys to keep us focused for the next month.
So there it is the last day of the home and away season for 2011 and BOTH grades again play finals football next week and to cap it all off we have an EXCELENT day tomorrow with our best and fairest and 200 club. All players are required to attend, please get your ticket from one of the executive and come and relax and enjoy yourselves before the serious stuff all starts next week for our chance to be the Premiers in 2011 – GO PIES!!!
