Rosebery-Toorak was formed in 1987, a decline in mining work forces had seen WTFA sides Toorak (Tigers) and Rosebery (Saints) struggle to field two sides each week after much soul searching the clubs merged to create the Rosebery Toorak Hawks.
In 1987 Mark Beech Jones and Murray Ralston shared the role of president with Steve Fitzallen Secretary, Kylie Burrows Treasurer and Paul Rundle Captain Coach. Rosebery Toorak finished third in the WTFA with Terry Milbourne winning the Albroadby medal for Best and Fairest in WTFA reserves a feat Darren Hodge would repeat in 1989.
In 1990 Rosebery-Toorak joined the NWFA making it an 8 team comp. President was Bob Howman, Secretary Steve Fitzallen, Treasurer Peter Waldren and Captain Coach was Club Legend Paul Soden.
In 1994 Burnie Dockers Legend Tom Honner was appointed coach and along with a number of new players lead Rosebery Toorak to its first NWFA Grand Final in 1996, unfortunately the club was unsuccessful in both the Senior and Reserves Grand Final.
In 1998 Another Burnie Dockers legend in Mark Radford took over as Seniors Coach and had immediate success with the Seniors being undefeated for the year and winning the clubs first NWFA Flag, 1999 saw the club go back to back and win its second flag.
Long serving and tireless club worker and two time Les Hicks Medallist Barry Gibson took over as Senior Coach in 2000 and lead the club to their 4th Grand final appearance in 5 years, played at Devonport Oval for the first time the Seniors were unable to win their third premiership.
A number of lean years were to follow with Rosebery-Toorak making the finals on only one occasion since 2000.
The appointment of Ex Western Bulldogs and Sydney Swans player Paul Atkins has the club looking forward to it's fortunes improving in 2008.
